What makes our hearts sing?
I love waking up and going for an early morning walk. The dawn is a magical time of the day. The darkness slowly passes into light and creation rises rejoicing. As the first light of dawn glimmers and the sunlight spreads its warmth, the birds begin to sing, calling each other, joining their dawn chorus.
If birds sing with the warmth, light, and life of the sun, what makes MY heart sing? My heart wakes to sing in the warmth, light, and life of my Saviour, the Son of God, the Sun of Righteousness.
Could we take a leaf from the book of creation? Could we wake our souls in such fine feather as the birds? Could we bask in the joy of the glory of Christ Jesus? Could we warm our hearts in the comfort of His compassion and in the light of His love? Could we join in on creating song that will help awaken the congregation of the church to look to the dawning of God’s glory and join in creation’s dawn chorus?
Church congregants who meet on the first day of the week, as the sun rises from East to West, look to the Son -calling forth praise in His wake and in the warmth of the love of God revealed in His glorious gospel.
Awake, sad heart, whom sorrow ever drowns;
Take up thine eyes, which feed on earth;
Unfold thy forehead, gathered into frowns;
Thy Saviour comes, and with him mirth
